Welcome to Day 8-- Final Online Day

Welcome to Day 8,

This is technically our last class, but last week felt more like the final class for many.
This week your main online tasks are to read the assigned readings, reflect on the readings, and engage in thoughtful conversations in relation to the readings.  I know it is the end of the semester and we are all a bit weary, but the topic is an extremely important one--how will you teach children who are linquistically, culturally, and economically different than you.
The final discussion point is to reflect on the course overall.
Please make sure you pay close attention to the last post.  It shares with you the final requirements for the course.

On a final note: I want you to know that It was a pleasure to meet each and everyone of you. I wish much success in your future endeavors and I look forward to hearing about your future employments.

If you have questions, please let me know.
Teresa

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON FINAL ASSIGNMENTS

Assignment due for KSP669:  Please place your video/instructional commentary into the D2L Drop box (The assignment guidelines for this assignments are the last pages of the guidelines packet passed out in class).

Planning Commentary

Please place your Planning Commentary in the assigned drop box.  This is the planning commentary that you already turned in with your thematic unit—it is not a new or different assignment.  If you remember Dr. Chapman will be also giving you points in her class for completing this assignment.   Please place the planning commentary in the KSP 607 drop box AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Instructional Commentary

Dr. Chapman will also be giving you feedback on your Instructional Commentary.  We will be using different rubrics from the edTPA Handbook.  Thus, we (Dr. Chapman and Dr. Kruizenga) will be assessing each document (paper), the Planning Commentary AND the Instructional Commentary, from different perspectives.  I will be assessing them using Rubrics 2 & 3 and Rubrics 6, 7 & 10 for the Instructional commentary.  Dr. Chapman will be using the Rubrics that are more aligned with her course.   Our goal is to try and give you as much feedback as possible.  Our hope is that this feedback from multiple reviewers will give you a better idea as to how to complete the edTPA during student teaching.   In other words, you have written two papers (the Planning Commentary AND the Instructional Commentary) and they are assessed in both classes (KSP 607 & 669).   I know for many of you this goes against everything you have been taught in your education career—starting in kindergarten.—and it is hard to believe--but yes,  the papers you wrote for one course can be given credit in another  as well.

In summary.  You need to
1)   Place your planning commentary in the dropbox for KSP 607 (please upload this as soon as possible)
2)   Place your video and Instruction Commentary in KSP 669 (Dr. Chapman has access to these here.  I did not want to try and make you upload your video twice to both drop boxes) on or before TUESDAY, DECEMBER 10.
